A scoring mistake in the Security Forces Specialty Knowledge Test (SKT) has led the US Air Force to retract the promotions of 135 personnel. The error stemmed from the use of an outdated scoring key, which incorrectly awarded these individuals promotions to the rank of technical sergeant.
Upon realizing the mistake, the Air Force conducted a comprehensive review, rescoring all 2,285 exam papers. This process helped identify the candidates who genuinely qualified for the promotions. As a result, the 135 rescinded promotions will be reassigned to those who met the proper criteria, with the total number of promotions available remaining steady at 586.
